ISAIAH 20 STUDY GUIDE
Isaiah 20:1-2 In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod ...
At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz ...
Isaiah 20:3-5 the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years...
So shall the king of Assyria lead away...Egyptians prisoners-the Ethiopians captives...naked and barefoot...
to the shame of Egypt.
Isaiah 20:6 the inhabitant of this isle shall say...
Behold, such is our expectation ...we flee for help ... how shall we escape?
Isaiah 20:1-2 In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod ... At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz ...
1: In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;
2: At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.
Isaiah 20:3-5 the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years...So shall the king of Assyria lead away...Egyptians prisoners-the Ethiopians captives...naked and barefoot...to the shame of Egypt.
3: And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;
4: So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
5: And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.
Isaiah 20:6 the inhabitant of this isle shall say...Behold, such is our expectation ...we flee for help ... how shall we escape?
6: And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day,
Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?

Joshua 11:21-23 Joshua Cut off the Anakims, destroying them with their cities
21: And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
22: There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.
23: So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

1 Samuel 5:1-5 The Philistines, who took the ark of God, brought it from Eben-ezer unto Ashdod to the house of Dagon...(Pagon god)
Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; (they set him in his place and the next morning they find him fallen again) and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold ...neither the priests of Dagon nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold...
1: And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Eben-ezer unto Ashdod.
2: When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.
3: And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.
4: And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.
5: Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.
1 Samuel 5:6-7 the hand of the LORD upon them of Ashdod ... smote them with emerods ... they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us ...
6: But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof.
7: And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said,
The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.
