The Pleural Cavity (Prompted By God Through Anne Terri)
The parietal pleural is attached to the chest wall. It's sensitive to pain. In normal circumstances it contains a small amount of pleural fluid ( serous fluid) made up of Blood. Serous fluid is typically pale yellow and transparent. At the time of a trauma to disease this fluid accumulates in the pleural cavity surrounding the lungs and is known as a hemothorax cause by pleural effusion. Treatment can relieve the pressure, assisting the patient in breathing, that has been compromised by the fluid, by way of a puncture into this cavity with scalpel to insert a chest tube for drainage.
