PSALM 3 - STUDY GUIDE
Psalm 3 A Prayer to The Lord From King David - when he fled from his Son Absalom and his Enemies
1: LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
2: Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
3: But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4: I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
5: I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
6: I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
7: Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8: Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

TWO OF MANY EXAMPLES OF KING DAVID GIVING THE LORD CREDIT FOR SAVING HIM
READ 2 SAMUEL 4:9
2 Samuel 4:8-12 they brought the head of Ish-bosheth unto David ... David commanded his young men ... they slew them ...
8: And they brought the head of Ish-bosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul thine enemy, which sought thy life; and the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.
9: And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said unto them, As the LORD liveth,
who hath redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
10: When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead, thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
11: How much more, when wicked men have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? shall I not therefore now require his blood of your hand, and take you away from the earth?
12: And David commanded his young men, and they slew them, and cut off their hands and their feet, and hanged them up over the pool in Hebron.
But they took the head of Ish-bosheth, and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
