The Voice of Tinker Jones – The New Church Bell (God Through Anne Terri)
What is a House of God? My House can be a 'Little House or a Big House, where people come together to meet in My Name. My House can be as a tent, the Tabernacle during the time of Moses, or as in modern times, on the world wide Internet. What if your House of God is not filled with gold?
This is My Way, the Way of the LORD, so please listen.
When the character, Charles Ingalls, played by (Michael Landon), takes on a project, it is in My Name. Michael, now resides with Me in Heaven, and will be pleased when I Share with him that 'The Voice of Tinker Jones', is now a part of My Living Bible-The Third Testament.
Tinker Jones (Chuck McCann) is a deaf mute, a craftsman who loves the people. He is a traveling salesman, who sells his wares at a low price, bringing joy to both young and old. Tinker Jones' metal craft is simple, but strong. He makes fine quality pots and pans, as well as toys which he gives freely to his customer's children, Tinker Jones' wagon is a welcome site, in a small village such as Walnut Grove. Mr. Jones is also a member of a congregation who meets in a simple building, a House of God, doubling as a small, one room school house.
Walnut Grove is such a small village, they do not have a permanent Minister. The Minister, Rev. Robert Alden (Dabbs Greer), travels from town to town sharing My Word. The character of Rev. Robert Alden is filled with Faith and only wants to do the best for his congregations.
In the story of 'The Voice of Tinker Jones', there is a Miracle of Faith, brought about by two men who believe in Me, Tinker Jones, and Rev. Robert Alden. The Reverend has suggested to the people that they make the effort to put their funds together to buy a church bell. This suggestion quickly becomes a battle between the town's people, as to who will pay for the bell and who will receive the credit. Mrs. Oleson, aptly played by (Scottie MacGregor), has decided she and her husband have more money than anyone else, and that they will donate all the funds for the bell. In addition, she wants a plack to be placed on the church, to honor this donation in their name. She will take no for an answer, and in doing so, has forbidden anyone in Walnut Grove to participate in the purchase of a bell. She also wants a very large bell, one which would be too heavy for such a small House of God. This is when the arguments become heated, literally tearing apart friendships, and placing Rev. Alden in the throes of dispair. He fears he has made a grave error. When Charles Ingalls, (Michael Landon), plays the mediator, in effort to bring Peace back to Walnut Grove, they do not listen, but choose sides. Until this can be resolved, his wife, Caroline (Karen Grassle), tells everyone, they will hold Church services and Sunday school privately in their 'Little House'.
When adults argue, the children follow. Tinker Jones has a better idea. He brings the children together, to collect every piece of metal they can find, in order for him to make the church bell. Tinker Jones can not hear or speak, but draws plan for them to follow. When it becomes apparent that they do not have enough metal to make the bell, he challenges the children to retrieve all their tin toys, which he gave them freely, to be melted down into a bell for their House Of God. It is a secret, between Tinker Jones and the children, who have realized they do not want to argue as are their parents, but want to bring them together again in Peace.
The following Saturday night, after the town's people are in for the evening, Tinker Jones transports the bell to the Church, and with a rope and pulley, places the bell, complete with yoke, upon the top of the Church.
The people on Sunday morning hear a marvelous sound, the ringing of a melodic bell. They follow the sound into the center of town, only to see Tinker Jones ringing it with Joy.
Reverend Alden stands Praying his thanks to Me, as the children share what happened, due to Tinker Jones idea. They realize how beautiful this Miracle is, which I, God Have Sent, and even Mrs. Oleson now smiles through her tears.
What does this say to you, My Readers? Does this story read as a Parable? Yes. In the beginning of My Review, I said: This is My Way, the Way of the LORD, so please listen. Open your ears and listen.
AMEN''
