Who was Joseph of Arimathaea ?
According to Carlo Ferdinando's Research, he is Mary, The Mother of Jesus' Uncle, and therefore also Jesus' Uncle. This is written as part of the much controversial Canonical Gospels. Arimathaea , is reported to be his birthplace, but as with Nazareth, it is difficult to place the exact location of Arimathaea . Some believe it to be as it is written, in Luke 23:51, ''a city of Judea.'' Others believe this is the same as Ramatha. Several scholars say it is Ramleh. In addition, it is thought Joseph of Arimathaea was a member of the Sanhedrin, which is the supreme council and court of justice of the Jews. This is based on Mark 15:43, and Luke 23:50.
See ... Isaiah 53:9, for what some believe is a Prophecy of Fulfillment.
9: And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. [/b]
However, when you look closely at Isaiah 53, also known as 'The Suffering Servant', you see many parts of this have been fulfilled by The Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and not as a self fulfilling Prophecy, for in The Gospel of John, much has been revealed of ...
How They Made The Crucifixion Fit The Prophecies Of The Old Testament

Much of what is written additionally about Joseph of Arimathaea, other than what is in The New Testament, is based on additional books known as apocrypha. Not all church scholars agree on how these are to be used or separated to fit with The New Testament. The apocrypha are translated documents from early Christians based on the life of Jesus Christ. Some call it legend.
One of them, The Acts Of Pilate, is split into various sections, a work of many. Even this is not complete, for the index known as The Harrowing of Hell, is not in the Greek texts, and is said to be invented.
The next section, is written as an official report made by Pontius Pilate to Claudius, containing a description of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus. There is an appendage, within The Acts Of Pilate, known as The Gospel of Nicodemus. There is much written here of Jesus Christ after the Crucifixion, and about Visions received by Joseph and his testimony before the Jewish elders.
For example, as it is written in Matthew 27: 52-53, Joseph of Arimathea swears to Caiaphas and Annas that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven, as well as others. At this time, according to scholars, The Acts Of Pilate have been dated as 4th Century.

AT THE TOMB AFTER CRUCIFIXION
JOSEPH OF ARIMATHAEA
Matthew 27:57-61 Joseph of Arimathaea ... Jesus'disciple ... begged the body of Jesus ... laid it in his own new tomb ... there was Mary Magdalene and the other Mary
57: When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
58: He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.
59: And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60: And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
61: And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
(Mark 15: 40-47) In Mark, Joseph is not named as a disciple, and is an Honorable counselor, vs rich as in Matthew's account. Note also it is the day before the sabbath, and it is a new tomb, Joseph's own.
Mark 15: 40-47 The Women Witnesses and the Evening Of The Crucifixion ... Joseph of Arimathaea (Friday Evening)
40: There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41: (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
42: And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation,, that is, the day before the sabbath,
43: Joseph of Arimathaea, and honourable counseller, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
44: And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
45: And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
46: And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.
47: And Mary Magdalene and Mary the motherof Joses beheld where he was laid.
(Luke 23: 50-54) Arimathaea is a city of the Jews. Joseph is a good man and just. Awaits God's Kingdom. No man had ever laid in the tomb hewn in stone. Preparation for Sabbath.
Luke 23: 50-53 (Joseph of Arimathaea claims Jesus' body – Lays Jesus in a stone sepulchre)
50: And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counseller; and he was a good man, and a just:
51: (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52: This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53: And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54: And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
(John 19: 38-42 ) Joseph of Arimathaea is also named a disciple of Jesus and has secret fear of Jews. Nicodemus is there, and is not mentioned in Matthew, Mark or Luke in this section. He anoints Jesus. Jesus New Sepulchre is in a garden.
John 19:38-42 (Joseph of Arimathaea claims Jesus' Body For Burial and Nicodemus brought a mixture of Myrrh and Aloes)
38: And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39: And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40: Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41: Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
42: There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
