In Chile an earthquake measuring 8.8 - on the Richter scale has hit Santiago Chile hard, with many buildings in a state of collapse. It has been reported that this quake is eight times larger than the one which hit Haiti several weeks ago.
Tsunami warnings have been issued for a wide spread area surrounding South America. People are watchful, for they have seen the sea recede, and this is the usual sign for a Tsunami.
