Anne Terri's Notes: Mark 15
This section of The New Testament is where we see the downfall of Man. This is not the first time you see this in history, nor is it the last. Am I pointing the finger, or casting the first stone? No. We are all guilty. Many Religions are definite about Jesus choosing to be a Martyr.
This is not the Truth. God Has Been with me through all of my studies, and there are many clues against this theory, if one looks closely. It's not easy to do this, when you have a book in text form, with small letters, written in columns. Now that the Internet is in place, and Biblical Scholars have begun to do their comparisons of The Holy Gospels side by side, some of these clues are coming forward. God Has Prompted many of these for my studies to be placed within The Third Testament.
This section has been carried over to The Crucifixion comparisons, long before I reached this point in the single Gospel of Mark. However, for clarification, let us look at it separately.

Mark 15: 1-5 (The Chief Priests Carry Jesus To be Delivered to Pilate)
1: And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.
2: And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him,Thou sayest it.
3: And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.
4: And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.
5: But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.
Anne Terri: Above, in Mark 15: 1-5, you see little dialog written between Jesus and Pilate. If you refer back to Mark 14:61-62 you will note it is almost the same, but something has been added. It seems to accompany the false witnesses. And below, we have one of the grand confusions of The New Testament. Why release a murderer over an innocent man? We are told in Mark 15:11 why. The chief priests moved the people to vote for Barabbas.

Mark 15:6-20 (Jesus Chosen For Crucifixion over Barabbas)
6: Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.
7: And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
8: And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.
9: But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?
10: For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.
11: But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.
12: And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?
13: And they cried out again, Crucify him.
14: Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him
15: And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified..
16: And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band.
17: And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,
18: And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!
19: And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.
20: And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.
Carrying The Cross
Anne Terri's Notes: Now we enter the section of Mark 15, which is the march from the Praetorium, to the site of the Crucifixion. This story has been told over and over, in many ways for over 2,000 years. The many ways are within 4 Gospels, of The Old Testament.
Who is Simon a Cyrenian, who was compelled to carry Jesus' cross? Mark knew, for he also writes of his children Alexander and Rufus. (Mark 15:21) The Stations of The Cross, as named by the Roman Catholic Church, appear partially in Mark. The link to the comparisons with Matthew, Luke and John is below.

Mark 15: 21 Simon A Cyrenian Carries The Cross
21: And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
Mark 15:22-23 Golgotha – Wine and Myrrh
22: And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.
23: And they gave him to drink wine mingled with:myrrh but he received it not.
Golgotha is Calvary.
In the book of Matthew 27, Jesus is given vinegar and gall to drink, which he refused.
Matthew 27: 33-34 Jesus is given vinegar and gull to drink, at a place called Golgotha
33: And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
34: They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

25: And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
PSALM 22 - STUDY GUIDE
Psalm 22
1: My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
2: O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
3: But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
4: Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
5: They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
6: But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
7: All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head saying,
8: He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
9: But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
10: I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.
11: Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
12: Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
13: They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
14: I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
15: My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
16: For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.
17: I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18: They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
19: But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
20: Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
21: Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
22: I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
23: Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24: For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
25: My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26: The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
27: All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28: For the kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governor among the nations.
29: All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
30: A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
31: They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.
Mark 15:26 Sign On Cross – The King Of The Jews
26: And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Mark 15: 27-28 Two Thieves – Scripture Fulfilled
27: And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.
28: And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.
Isaiah 53:12 The Suffering Servant/ Numbered With The Transgressors
12: Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Mark 15:29-32 Jesus Mocked By The People and The Chief Priests
29: And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
30: Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
31: Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.
32: Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
Mark 15:33-39 In The Sixth Hour Darkness (Vinegar to drink)
33: And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
34: And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
35: And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.
36: And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
37: And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38: And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
39: And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
See Matthew 27: There is no Earthquake in Mark 15, yet it is almost the same.
