John 4:45-54 Cana of Galilee - The 2nd Miracle - Jesus Heals Nobleman's Son
John 4:1-2 Jesus baptized not but his disciples ...
1: When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
2: (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)
John 4:2-8 Jesus left Judaea...into Galilee...went through Samaria ...to Sychar ... sat at Jacob's Well ...He asks a woman of Samaria...'Give me to drink'...disciples... into the city to buy meat
3: He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4: And he must needs go through Samaria.
5: Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6: Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7: There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8: (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
(*See Below, John 3:22-28)
John 4:9-26 The Story of the Good Samaritan - Living Water
9: Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him,
How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10: Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11: The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12: Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13: Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15: The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16: Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17: The woman answered and said, I have no husband.
Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18: For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19: The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20: Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21: Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22: Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25: The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26: Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
John 4:27-38 Jesus' disciples marvelled that he talked with the woman ... she saith to the men 'is not this the Christ?'...his disciples say 'Master, eat.' Jesus saith: 'My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work ... And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.'
27: And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28: The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29: Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30: Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31: In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32: But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33: Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34: Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35: Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36: And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37: And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38: I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
John 4:39-42 the Samaritans of that city believed ... saying ... this is indeed the Christ, The Saviour of the world
39: And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40: So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41: And many more believed because of his own word;
42: And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
John 4: 43-44 A Prophet Hath No Honour ....
43: Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
44: For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
John 4:45-54 Cana of Galilee - The 2nd Miracle - Jesus Heals Nobleman's Son
45: Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
46: So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47: When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48: Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49: The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50: Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth.
And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51: And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52: Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53: So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54: This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
DEUTERONOMY
Deuteronomy 11:23-32 ''A Blessing and a Curse''
23: Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
24: Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
25: There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you .
26: Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
27: A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
28: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
29: And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy Godhath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.
30: Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the champaign over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?
31: For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.
32: And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.
Deuteronomy 27:1-4 That thou shalt set thee up great stones...in Mount Ebal...Write upon them all the words of this law ...
1: And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.
2: And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister:
3: And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
4: Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister.
Deuteronomy 27:5-7 There build an altar of whole stones, for peace offerings...
5: And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
6: Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God:
7: And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the LORD thy God.
Deuteronomy 27:8 Write Plainly All The Words Of This Law
8: And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
Deuteronomy 27:9-10 Obey The Voice of the LORD thy God, Do His Commandments and Statutes...
9: And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.
10: Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
Deuteronomy 27:11-13 Blessings and Curses - Division of The Children Of Israel
11: And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,
12: These shall stand uponmount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:
13: And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
JOSHUA 8 MOUNT EBAL NEAR MOUNT GERIZIM
Joshua 8:30-35 Joshua's Altar To the LORD God - Mount Ebal , near Mount Gerizim - Joshua writes Moses Law upon stones and reads it before the congregation of Israel
30: Then Joshua built an altar unto the LORD God of Israel in mount Ebal,
31: As Moses the servant of the LORD commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of whole stones, over which no man hath lift up any iron: and they offered thereon burnt offerings unto the LORD, and sacrificed peace offerings.
32: And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel.
33: And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against mount Gerizim, and half of them over against mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel.
34: And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law.
35: There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them.
Anne Terri's Notes-Let us take a brief look at the locations Moses has mentioned:
Blessing - Mount Gerizim: One of two mountains, near the West Bank, Palestinian city of Nablus in Israel. It has a fresh water spring at the lower edge of the northern side.
Curse – Mount Ebal: is next to Mount Gerizim on the northern side of the valley. It is mostly limestone, and has several large caverns. At the base on the north there are several tombs.
Land Of The Canaanites: Ancient term for Israel of today. It includes Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, the coastal areas of parts of Jordan, and Syria. Also included in The Land of The Canaanites, is northeastern Egypt.
The Hebrew Bible shows this area as from Lebanon south, extending across Gaza, to the Brook of Egypt. It runs eastward to the Jordan River Valley.
plains of Moreh: This is mentioned in (Genesis 12:6) as well as here in (Deut 11:30), but little is known of the meaning. It is thought to be an area with trees, if you base your research on The King James Version. It becomes more clear in The New International Version of The Holy Bible. And there is an area of location, Arabah not written in the KJV. I have posted their version below for comparison.
Deuteronomy 11:30 (New International Version)
30 As you know, these mountains are across the Jordan, west of the road, toward the setting sun, near the great trees of Moreh, in the territory of those Canaanites living in the Arabah in the vicinity of Gilgal.
Gilgal-Arabah: A section of the Great Rift Valley, between the Dead Sea to the north and the Gulf of Aqaba which is south. It forms part of the border between Israel to the west and Jordan to the East.

Genesis 33:18 Jacob in Shechem
[18] And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan-aram; and pitched his tent before the city.
[19] And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.
[20] And he erected there an altar, and called it El-elohe-Israel.

SAMARITANS
THE NEW TESTAMENT
Matthew 10: 5-7 And into to any city of the Samaritans enter ye not ... Go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel ...
5: These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
6: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7: And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Luke 9: 51-56 Jesus Is Not Received By Samaritans
51: And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
52: And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53: And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
54: And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55: But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56: For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

1: And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3: And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

7: Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
