August 28, 2009 - A Celebration In Honor of Pope Celestino V (God Through Carlo Ferdinando - Edited by Anne Terri)
FORGIVENESS FOR EVERYONE IN L'AQUILA?
Perhaps some of you have heard or read the name of this Italian city in the last couple of months. The city was hit by an earthquake, the 6th of April, 2009. It was a bad one, and houses and churches were destroyed. Many people lost their lives.
In July, the G8 meeting was held at l'Aquila. Perhaps you saw some pictures of President Obama and the other world leaders, posing in front of the ruins of the city.
The 28th of August, 2009, is the date when the celebrations start in honor of Pope Celestino V. This Pope was not very much liked by Dante (the greatest Italian writer), who put him in the Hell as a coward, burning upside down.
Every year, you can go to l'Aquila, and if you do what it is asked by the church, including going to Confession and Receiving Communion, and visiting the Church where San Celestino's remains are, all your sins will be forgiven.
You don't have to guess that a huge crowd will be going there.
This year, there will be a very special guest; one who has been in the news the last couple of months, for having affairs with young girls and less young ladies. The Prime Minister of Italy will be there to have a dinner with the Bishop, and to participate in the "La perdonanza" (The Forgiveness) It is a pity that he is not allowed to be Forgiven, because he is divorced, and the Catholic Church does not allow divorced people to Receive The Holy Communion. He is very unhappy about this, but the Pope (Papa in Italian), does not like the fact that the PM has been called Papi by young girls. You see, Papa and Papi sounds too close.
It is true, you can go to L'Aquila and get a free ticket to Heaven for whatever you've done in your life; isn't that great? And you don't even have to pay.
It is the year 2009 AD.
AMEN''
