Director’s Biography: Michaël R. Roskam was born in Belgium in 1972. He is the Director of the Belgium film, 'Bullhead', which has brought him a nomination for best foreign film at the 2012 Academy Awards.

Roskam studied arts in Brussels, at the St. Lukas Academy of Fine Arts. He teaches his knowledge of film making to students at the same academy. He has directed shorter films, which have received awards: “Haun,” “Carlo” and “The One Thing To Do.”

God's Film Review: 'Carlo' (God Through Anne Terri and Carlo Ferdinando With The Holy Spirit)

1. In the short film 'Carlo', directed and written by Michaël R. Roskam, cattle appear to place judgment upon man.
2. There are many levels to think about.
3. The next section contains a spoiler; I Warn you now, this will be such a document.
4. Cultural differences between cattle and human.
5. Cultural differences between humans themselves.
6. Cultural differences based upon history, languages, and life styles.
7. Self imposed borders.
8. The first scenes in the film are extremely graphic.
9. The main character, Flemish speaking Carlo, works at the beginning of the line in a slaughter house, as the butcher.
10. Imagine, the suffering.
11. Gentle cattle standing in line awaiting their end, uninformed they are about to be killed and strung up to be sent to the next step.
12. After work, Carlo is now back home, where he is confronted with a choice by his Flemish speaking friend.
13. This man plays soccer across one of Belgium's many internal borders, with a French speaking team.
14. He is also an automobile mechanic, who has been injured when a vehicle fell off a jack.
15. He asks Carlo to take his place on the team.
16. New problem; language border.
17. The soccer team is French Speaking, while Carlo speaks only Flemish.
18. He fights his friend's suggestion, but succumbs to pressure.
19. The scene changes and we witness Carlo standing on the side of a Belgium road, waiting for his ride.
20. Two cars are on the way.
21. One containing three members of a French soccer team who are to pick him up along the way.
22. This is a yellow vehicle.
23. The other vehicle is black, and has parked not far from one of the borders between the Flemish and French areas within Belgium.
24. They also are to pick up someone, but not him.
25. Therefore, there are two hitch hikers waiting to be taken to their destiny.
26. What if, in confusion, each man gets in the wrong vehicle?
27. Life's choices.
28. What happens next is exactly this.
29. Carlo gets in the black vehicle, confronted with French speaking criminals, who are on their way to rob a mechanic's shop at gun point, and he can not communicate with them in his language.
30. He realizes his mistake too late when they hand him a hand gun and mask.
31. He breaks away and begins to run, but is finally cornered.
32. The man who was to join with the team of criminals, has gotten in the yellow car of Soccer players, and they never arrive to their game alive.
33. The final judgment is yet to come, but one in the interim, becomes surreal.
34. A shallow grave is dug in the country side, which is dotted with cattle who are peacefully living out their short lives.
35. The cattle are interested and come to watch all this activity of grave digging.
36. The last thing Carlo sees on earth, as he kneels on the ground by the open grave, are the faces of the cattle.

2. Il ya plusieurs niveaux de réflexion.

5. Les différences culturelles entre les humains eux-mêmes.
6. Les différences culturelles fondées sur l'histoire, les langues et les styles de vie.

8. Les premières scènes du film sont extrêmement graphique.
9. Le personnage principal, flamande de Carlo, travaille au début de la ligne dans un abattoir, comme le boucher.
10. Imaginez, la souffrance.

32. L'homme qui était à se joindre à l'équipe de criminels, a obtenu dans la voiture jaune de joueurs de soccer, et ils n'arrivent jamais à leur jeu vivant.
33. L'arrêt définitif est encore à venir, mais dans l'intervalle, devient surréaliste.

2. Er zijn vele niveaus over na te denken.

8. De eerste scènes in de film zijn zeer grafisch.
9. De hoofdpersoon, Vlaams gesproken Carlo, werkt aan het begin van de lijn in een slachthuis, als de slager.
10. Stel je voor, het lijden.
11. Gentle vee in de rij staan   wachten op hun einde, onwetend zijn ze op het punt om te worden gedood en opgehangen te worden toegezonden aan de volgende stap.
12. Na het werk, Carlo is nu weer thuis, waar hij wordt geconfronteerd met een keuze van zijn Vlaamse vriend.
13. Deze man voetbalt in een van de vele interne België de grenzen, met een Franstalige team.
14. Hij is ook een auto-monteur, die al gewond geraakt toen een voertuig viel van een aansluiting.
15. Hij vraagt   Carlo op zijn plaats op het team.

17..Het voetbalteam is Franstalig, terwijl Carlo spreekt alleen de Vlaamse.
18. Hij vecht zijn vriend de suggestie, maar bezwijkt voor druk.
19. De scène veranderingen en zijn we getuige van Carlo staan   aan de kant van een in België de weg, wachtend op zijn rit.
20. Twee auto's zijn op de weg.
21. Een met drie leden van een Franse voetbalteam die worden geacht de hem op te halen langs de weg.
22. Dit is een gele voertuig.
23. De andere auto is zwart, en heeft geparkeerd niet ver van een van de grenzen tussen de Vlaamse en de Franse gebieden in België.
24. Ze zijn ook op te halen iemand, maar hem niet.
25. Daarom zijn er twee lifters klaar om te worden genomen om hun lot.
26. Wat als, in verwarring, ieder mens krijgt in de verkeerde auto?
27. Life's keuzes.
28. Wat er vervolgens gebeurt is precies dit.
29. Carlo krijgt in de zwarte auto, geconfronteerd met Franstalige criminelen, die op weg zijn naar een monteur van de winkel te beroven onder schot, en hij kan niet met hen te communiceren in zijn taal.
30. Hij realiseert zich zijn fout te laat toen ze geven hem een hand pistool en masker.
31. Hij breekt en begint te lopen, maar is uiteindelijk in het nauw gedreven.
32. De man die was om samen met het team van criminelen, heeft gekregen in de gele auto van de voetballers, en ze nooit aankomen om hun spel te leven.
33. Het eindoordeel moet nog komen, maar een in de tussentijd wordt surrealistisch.
34. Een ondiep graf is gegraven op het platteland, die is bezaaid met vee die vreedzaam leven uit hun korte leven.
35. De runderen zijn geïnteresseerd en komen tot al deze activiteiten van het graf graven.te
36kijken.Het laatste wat Carlo ziet op aarde, terwijl hij knielt op de grond door het open graf, zijn de gezichten van het vee.
