Book Review - Jesus of Nazareth
Author: Joseph Ratzinger / Pope Benedict XVI
Publisher: Bloomsbury in Great Britain - 2007
Translated from German by : Adrian J. Walker
''November 19, 2011 God's Living Bible - The Third Testament - Research Library - Book, Movie, Television, Documentary Reviews -
'Jesus of Nazareth' - the Forward (God Through Anne Terri With The Holy Spirit)
For clarification, I Am Directing this review. My Word will be in cobalt blue text, and within double quotes.
We Begin, with the Forward, written and signed as Joseph Ratzinger, Benedict XVI. First, as with The New Testament, the book, 'Jesus of Nazareth', has been translated many times, the original being in German.
Pope Benedict XVI has been on a quest to find the Truth about Jesus Christ since childhood.
The intricacies of his work are apparent within the pages, which have become the fruition of his quest. Not only his knowledge graces the ten chapters, but that of many theologians.
AMEN''
''Anne asked Me,''
'Why is he not using his own theology, after all he is the Pope?'
'' Pope Benedict XVI writes on page xi:''
Pope: 'in the 1930s and 1940s - there was a series of inspiring books about Jesus: Karl Adam, Romano Guardini, Franz Michel Willam, Giovanni Papini, and Henri Daniel-Rops, were just some of the authors one could name.'
''This is only the beginning of the many names and books he has read to find the answers to questions he seeks. Allow Me to remind you that the Vatican's vast library, to which many do not have access, has allowed the Pope, to view many historical documents from their archives.
Pope Benedict XVI's focus of the forward is as follows:''
Pope: 'In the 1930s and 1940s' ... 'All of these books based their portrayal of Jesus Christ on the Gospels.'
'...in the 1950s. The gap between the 'historical Jesus' and the Christ of faith' grew wider and the two visibly fell apart.
''The Pope writes, based upon the sources used by the Evangelists. As Joseph Ratzinger, he approaches this next question''
Joseph Ratzinger - Pope Benedict XVI:'But what can faith in Jesus as the Christ possibly mean, in Jesus as the Son of the living God, if the man Jesus was so completely different from the picture that the Evangelists painted of him and that the Church, on the evidence of the Gospels, takes as the basis of her preaching?'
...
'Jesus was the anti-Roman revolutionary working - though finally failing - to overthrow the ruling powers; at the other end, he was the meek moral teacher who approves everything and unaccountably comes to grief.'

'' I Say, Jesus was not a revolutionary, nor was he staging an attempt to overthrow the ruling powers, even though what has come through within The New Testament, as Gospel, unchangeable as concrete, would have one think so. How could Pope Benedict XVI, think otherwise based upon what has been written, and is being taught?
Before I Continue, We Have Prepared an extensive Study Guide
AMEN''
How They Made The Crucifixion Fit The Prophecies Of The Old Testament.
''This is a study, I Prompted and Guided Anne to undertake, before she was Allowed to Receive this Review from Me.

'' Allow Me now to continue, where the quotes begin, which are by and about other authors.
The Pope spends many pages on Rudolf Schnackenburg - Catholic exegete and Author of - 'Jesus in the Gospels: A Biblical Christology'. Schnackenburg sought to bring forward:
AMEN''
Pope Benedict XVI Quotes, Schnackenburg::
'a reliable view of the historical figure of Jesus of Nazareth through scientific effort' ...
Pope: 'The book is intended to help believing Christians'...
Schnackenburg Said: '...who today have been made insecure by scientific research and critical discussion ...'
''What Schnackenburg wrote, reached the heart of Pope Benedict XVI, for it was about Jesus' relatedness to Me, and his closeness to Me, God, which is addressed on (p. 322) in Schnackenburg's book, Jesus in the Gospels: A Biblical Christology
Within in the next pages, the Pope goes deeply into the history of Catholic theology, writing:''
Pope Benedict XVI 'the door was opened for it by the encyclical Divino Afflante Spiritu in 1943 (p. ix)'
''This was during the time of Pope Pius XII. This change would allow new ways to 'scriptural interpretation'.
''He further cites as examples:''
Pope Benedict XVI
' Dei Verbum, the Second Vatican Council's Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation.
Their Debates: The Interpretation of the Bible in the Church (Vatican City, 1993)
The Jewish People and Their Sacred Scriptures in the Christian Bible (Vatican City 2001)'

''At this point there is the focus on Roman Catholic dogmas and doctrines, combined with theologians of their religion.
This next quote is very important, for I Have Guided My Messiahs in research, based upon historical significance and time lines, verses Biblical faith. All links within My Review, are based upon years of work with My Messiahs, to Bring Forward The Third Testament, both as an ongoing Research Library, and foremost with My New Revelations.
Within The Holy Bible, both in The Old and New Testaments, the stories conflict with each other, and with historical records, especially in the Infancy Gospels.

Joseph Ratzinger - Pope Benedict XVI:
'For it is of the very essence of biblical faith to be about real historical events. It does not tell stories symbolizing suprahistorical truths...
Et incarnatus est- when we say these words, we acknowledge God's actual entry into real history.
'' Think; who has claim to My Actual Entry into real history. Much of what was written about Me - and I Do Have Many Names - came from word of mouth, passed down through time.
Parchments and scrolls have been lost, changed, or are at this time, undiscovered. One viewpoint is not enough, and even all viewpoints, would be severely incomplete. No human could possibly know and understand Me.
Historically, one needs to go back in time, long before Moses, to the base of one of the oldest recorded religions, Hinduism.

I Spoke to many of My early children. I Am Not about religion, but about raising their Faith in My Existence as One God, with many Attributes and countless Heavenly Hosts.
Now, I Continue with 'Jesus of Nazareth'.
AMEN''
The Pope says: 'If we push this history aside, Christian faith as such disappears and is recast as some other religion. So if history, if facticity in this sense, is an essential dimension of Christian faith, then faith must expose itself to the historical method - indeed, faith itself demands this. '
''Faith does not demand proof.
The fact is, that Jesus Christ is not documented within a history book. Yet, The Holy Bible, does contain history. Certain names and events, which link to historical accounts, help with the time line of Jesus Christ within The New Testament. These were placed there by the Apostles and others, to either give credence to the works, or just the opposite, to confuse and bring Faith down.
Keep your Faith up, for I Am Here. What matters is not the confusion and dark woes within, but the good I Taught through Jesus Christ.
AMEN''
''My Direct Word Is, written within certain pages of The Torah. Later, this becomes human word.
Jesus Christ knew this to be true, and was teaching his own people through My Holy Spirit, all they lost throughout time.
After Mount Sinai, when Moses First Received from Me, The Law - My Commandments, a golden calf changed everything.
A difficult concept for a human to understand, for many stand behind their Holy Bible with a fervor.
One of the Pope's last quotes from his extensive Forward for 'Jesus of Nazareth' allows the reader to understand how much work he put into this. When I Return, there will be a Discussion on his next section, 'An Initial Reflection on the Mystery of Jesus'.
AMEN''
The Pope: 'As I said at the beginning of this foreword, the present book has undergone a long gestation. I was able to begin work on it during the 2003 summer holidays...Since my election to the episcopal see of Rome I have used every free moment to make progress on the book.'

The Pope says of the historical method ...
'Because it is a historical method, it presupposes the uniformity of the context within which the events of history unfold. It must therefore treat the biblical words it investigates as human words.
On painstaking reflection, it can intuit something of the 'deeper value' the word contains. It can in some sense catch the sounds of a higher dimension through the human word, and so open up the method to self - transcendence. '
