For My readers to understand, they should first read the Document linked above, and then return here to learn more about Father Damien.
Father Damien as a priest, closely fits what I Expect from My Children. He was not afraid to help others who were suffering, often exposing himself to the dreaded disease of Leprosy.
He was from Belgium, and worked through a religious order as a missionary, which was appropriately named, The Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Jesus often healed the Lepers, and Father Damien chose to follow in his footsteps, by working and living with the Lepers.
He lived on earth beginning January 3, 1840 and came to Me on April 15, 1889. As a Roman Catholic Priest, he often bucked heads with the elders of the church, and later was chastised for being so careless when working around the Lepers.
His mission was in Moloka'i. At that time, Moloka'i was an island which was part of the Kingdom of Hawaii. Saint Damien spent sixteen years caring for the Lepers. He raised their Spiritual sides, all the while working closely with them in their illness.
Yes, he too became a leper. They call him a Martyr. I Call him a Saint. Not because he chose to chance being infected with this disease, but because he Loved everyone within in this Leper colony and gave of his time and devotion freely, without fear.
Pope John Paul II, set forward Father Damien towards Sainthood, in Rome, on June 4, 1995. Later, on October 11, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI canonized Father Damien.
Sainthood should not be about Miracles, but based upon a human's Quality of service to Me, performed in My Name.
AMEN''
