RIG VEDA (1500 B.C.) Codified 600 B.C. Written after 300 B.C.

The Rigveda is the oldest book of the Vedas, dated at about 1500 B.C. In the Rigveda, there are hymns. In Hinduism, they are called mantras. These mantras are as hymns, or incantation directed towards the Hindu gods. Due to their age, it is important to remember these are from a time of rituals, and are very ancient.
