THE NEW TESTAMENT
SECOND EPISTLE OF PETER 3 - STUDY GUIDE
2 Peter 3:1-2 ... I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance ... the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour
2 Peter 3:3-7 there shall come in the last days scoffers... saying, Where is the promise of his coming?...by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water... the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished... But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are...reserved unto fire against the day of judgment...
2 Peter 3:8-12 be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years... But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night...the heavens shall pass away ... the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2 Peter 3:13-18 according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth... be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless ... in all his epistles, speaking ... of these things ... some things hard to be understood ... they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

2 Peter 3:1-2 ... I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance ... the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour
1: This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
2 Peter 3:3-7 there shall come in the last days scoffers... saying, Where is the promise of his coming?...by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water... the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished... But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are...reserved unto fire against the day of judgment...
3: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4: And saying, Where is the promise of his coming?
for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5: For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8: But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10: But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11: Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved,
what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12: Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
2 Peter 3:13-18 according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth... be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless ... in all his epistles, speaking ... of these things ... some things hard to be understood ... they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
13: Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14: Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things,
be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
15: And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation;
even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
16: As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood,
which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
17: Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
18: But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Isaiah Chapter 24
1: Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
2: And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of usury, so with the giver of usury to him.
3: The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.
4: The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.
5: The earth also is defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant.
6: Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.
7: The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.
8: The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.
9: They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.
10: The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.
11: There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.
12: In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.
13: When thus it shall be in the midst of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done.
14: They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they shall cry aloud from the sea.
15: Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.
16: From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.
17: Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.
18: And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
19: The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
20: The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.
21: And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
22: And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.
23: Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.
Isaiah Chapter 34
1: Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
2: For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
3: Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4: And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

Isaiah 51:6
6: Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

Micah 1:3-4
3: For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.
4: And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.
